Understand This and Know That You Are the Key to Their Success

Each and every human being is a unique individual that has different likes and dislikes, has a  distinctive personality and responds to the world around them differently. While society has standards in behavior and character, the way we respond, think about and act on those standards shows our individuality. This holds true when talking about our children. The easiest way I have come to think about the vastness of this concept is this: While we all have fingerprints, no two are the same.

So, for any parenting advice to work for your child, it comes down to one key factor – you! Any parent who takes the time to understand their child as a unique individual and the learn parenting techniques  that will work for their family will be able to parent that child to a successful happy adulthood. You are the key to understanding your child. You have all of the tools to do the job.

It is important for parents to not step away too far from who they are in order to parent their child ‘correctly’.  Have some bad habits? Okay, try to fix those. But don’t emulate the perfect parent in your mom’s group. Your child is going to know that isn’t you and respond negatively, beside the fact that you’ll be responding to yourself negatively too and, well, that is mess – not to mention no fun.

You brought this life into this world by being you. You need to parent by being you. You are the key to your child success. Can you be a better you? Sure, you’re working on that right now. Change habits, learn good parenting skills, but stay true to you.
